ISO / TS 16949: 2009

Sypris Technologies manufacturing sites are ISO / TS 16949: 2009 registered.  Registrars include:  TUV Rhineland and UL DQS, with oversight provided by The International Automotive Task Force (IATF). 

Kaizen & CI

External and internal benchmarking is used to identify continuous improvement opportunities.  Structured cross-functional group sessions in Kaizen and project management are keys to implementation.

Advanced Product Quality Planning

Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) is utilized to ensure well-planned quality launches for new product with detailed Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis (PFMEA), Control Plan, and Process Flow Diagram construction.

AIAG & PPAP

Products are qualified through the Automotive Industry Action Group (AIAG) Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) or customer specific processes.

Metallurgical Capabilities

Metallurgical capabilities are demonstrated with both non-destructive testing for routine inspections (ultrasonic and magnetic particle) and destructive preliminary and verification testing for microstructure, case depth, grain structure, grain flow.

Metrology Capabilities

Metrology capabilities include Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) at each location, automated cells with integrated dimensional inspection points including error proofing, and the use of Statistical Process Control (SPC) for analysis of process and product capability.

Advanced Problem Solving

Issue resolution methods such as A3 (including Cause-and-Effect Diagrams, Five Whys, Histograms and other Six Sigma tools), Eight-Discipline, and DOE support advanced problem solving.

Testing

Third-party accredited laboratories are contracted as needed for specialized testing and in-house verifications.
